UKs unpredictable Summer

The Enigin blog mentions burnt skin and red faces in the office. I must say that I can relate to that! It was so hot on Sunday and Monday, the indoor fan only helped to blow the wind around it seemed. Absolutely useless. I recall wishing for the rain. Even outdoor it was muggy hot with no breeze at all.

At first its so nice to finally have the sun, no more taking along a brolly in case it rains whilst your sunning yourself. Spring has gone. Summer is here … and its a hot one! That’s what everyone would like to think. However english weather doesn’t work that way.

Tuesday was raining. Yesterday was cloudy and today its so windy you can hear it howling. So much for Summer! Now I understand why at the first of the sun’s rays we were outside or rushing to the nearest beach (even if it’s a few hours drive away). You’ve got to catch this English sun before it disappears again.

Last year we experienced Summer without a fan thinking just how long was the heat going to last. Finally mid July I splurged on stand up fan. My roommate said what a waste as Summer is soon over. No, not at all, I exsplained quickly, don’t you know August is the hottest month of Summer?

Not that year it wasn’t. Two days after finally buying a large fan, and carting it back (with difficulty) on the bus from the local Argos the weather suddenly got cold. Summer was unofficially over and that August, as hot as it had been in June and July, was probably just as overly cold than it should be in August.
